FECA Honors CLARFELD for Two Decades of Autism Support

April is National Autism Awareness Month, a time to increase public awareness and celebrate those who have championed the cause.

At its recent annual gala, the Foundation for Educating Children with Autism (FECA) honored Rob Clarfeld, CEO, and his colleagues at the wealth management firm, CLARFELD Wealth Strategists and Financial Confidantes™, for their ongoing dedication to FECA.

“There is one person…who, together with his family of colleagues and coworkers, holds the scepter, if not the crown, to the kingdom of unwavering devotion and support…...and that is our dear friend Rob Clarfeld,” said Melanie Schaffran, President of FECA.

Schaffran credited Clarfeld with providing the resources for FECA to hire staff and purchase curriculum in the organization’s early days, nineteen years ago. Schaffran praised Clarfeld for setting “a priceless example”, by training and hiring members of FECA’s Devereux Adult program to work at CLARFELD Wealth Strategists and Financial Confidantes™.

“We are deeply honored by this acknowledgment. However, truth be told, we are the primary beneficiary of our ongoing relationship with the young adults in the FECA program. They are excellent employees and we are further enriched knowing that we are making a profound difference in their lives and the lives of their families,” said Clarfeld.

The 18th Annual FECA on Fifth Gala was held at The Pierre Hotel, New York City, and featured commentary from program members currently employed at CLARFELD and their families.

“One day all the staff was saying things like ‘How are you?’ and ‘Nice to see you’, commented a two-year program participant. “When I heard all the greetings, I said it felt like I was in “Cheers” [the Boston bar used as the setting for the 1980s sitcom of the same name.] I feel proud to have a job and work with people who are nice to me."

Since its inception, FECA has grown into an established school which currently educates 48 children and supported the establishment of an adult program. Fifteen young men currently travel to job sites throughout the county, participating in meaningful work and contributing to their families, their communities and their own lives.
